A major Australian infrastructure organisation is seeking a senior leader to take accountability for the strategic development of pipeline infrastructure projects that will underpin the next phase of the business’s growth.

Operating at a Group level and reporting to the Executive General Manager, this role will sit at the intersection of engineering leadership, strategic growth and commercial decision making.

The organisation operates a significant portfolio of energy infrastructure assets and is entering an important phase where future growth will increasingly come from non-regulated infrastructure opportunities. As such, the Group Head of Pipeline Development will play a critical role in identifying, shaping and progressing new pipeline development initiatives across Australia.

Working closely with executive leadership and the broader business development function, this role will help convert strategic opportunities into technically sound, commercially viable projects that support long-term energy infrastructure growth.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the strategic development of new pipeline infrastructure opportunities
• Partnering with commercial teams to assess feasibility and investment cases
• Providing technical leadership across early-stage infrastructure development
• Supporting the progression of projects through financial investment approval
• Engaging with internal executive stakeholders to shape long-term infrastructure strategy
• Providing leadership across a specialised pipeline development team
• Helping future-proof a critical function within the organisation

The successful candidate will bring a strong combination of engineering credibility, commercial awareness and leadership capability.

Experience likely to include:

• Senior pipeline engineering or pipeline development experience
• Exposure to gas transmission, upstream or midstream infrastructure
• Demonstrated involvement in the development of major infrastructure projects
• Strong commercial and strategic thinking capability
• The ability to operate at a senior leadership and executive stakeholder level
• Experience working across both technical and commercial project phases
